States Marine Corps Dress Blues Cover (hat).
A formal
uniform hat worn by US Marines also known as the white barracks
cover. Worn with the dress blues uniform.
Enlisted
covers have the plain white vinyl or cloth crown,
plain black bill, and black chinstrap. A large gold eagle globe
and anchor (EGA) is worn on the top center of the crown. Gold screwpost
hold the chinstrap in place.
Officer
covers have additional features such has red/gold chinstraps, gold
and silver EGA, gold leaves on the bill, (depending on grade),
and a white quadrafoil on the top of the crown. Originally the
quadrafoil was worn to prevent sharp shooters on the masts of
ships from shooting their own officers.
